At the same time, the metal mold has a fast cooling speed, which can refine the casting grains and reduce or eliminate pinholes in non-ferrous alloy castings.
 
When small thin-walled castings are formed with metal molds, the molten metal solidifies quickly. In many cases, the solidification of the castings is completed almost at the same time when the casting is completed. For large and thin-walled castings, in order to completely fill the cavity and obtain castings with clear contour, higher metal mold temperature and pouring temperature are required. At the same time, heat insulation coating is also sprayed on the surface of the cavity.
 
In addition, increasing the pouring temperature can improve the feeding conditions of the casting, because it can easily make the molten metal enter the lower metal that has been cooled by the mold wall. When using the bottom injection type, the metal liquid is required to have a high temperature to improve the filling capacity; in non-ferrous metal casting, the possibility of cracks in the casting is much greater than that of the sand mold, because the metal mold and the metal core have no yield, which hinders the shrinkage of the casting.

The working temperature of metal mold depends on the type, brand, structural shape, size and wall thickness of the casting alloy, and is also related to the pouring temperature of the alloy.
